Very cute! I'm going to try and make one for my new granddaughter. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI found a crochet baby bib. Would like to make a knitted baby bib. Have any suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try the head band, it looks really cute. Thank you Leta
Sorry I don't understand the profile so will select anonymous.
cute..cute...cute..thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet headband - but that baby's eyes... - gorgeous... - like someone trained her to give the perfect look for the picture!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern - will be back for it when I'm done with the big-girl headband I have to find and make!
Thanks for the pattern! I actually tried this last night on a 5 circular needle, but I could not knit in the round, the stitches wouldn't stretch around the circle, any suggestions? Maybe my cast on wasn't loose enough..
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! I started it last night and finished just now! It is so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteViolet, you need a really short circular. =) Try a 16".
Violet - Sorry I took so long to respond. I had a baby the day before you posted your question, so I'm just getting back in the swing of things... kind of...
ReplyDeleteanyway... you can use shorter circulars like anonymous already suggested or you can use the magic loop method. If you've never knitted magic loop, here is a link to a video demo:

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say "Thank You" for sharing such a great little pattern. I knit this up as a gift for a new baby and the mom loves it and has already snapped some adorable photos (I'll be sharing on my blog and linking here soon). Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletethank you so much. I love it and it's adorable. I'm going to share this with my blog followers if that's ok. So fun! thanks,

That is so cute ... thanks for posting the pattern.
ReplyDeleteLove the headband! And what a cutie pie model! Found you on Susan B Anderson blog. Don't we all wish we could hang on to our eyelashes like that our whole lives??
ReplyDeleteI'll cast on now to make on for a friend's 3 year old daughter.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this pattern, thanks so much for sharing. I don't suppose you could post final measurements and/or gauge? I've made and remade it a couple of times because I keep stressing myself out it won't fit (it's for a gift and I don't have a handy baby head upon which to try it...!) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteKim, I have an extra headband knitted up that I was going to measure for you but we're trying to sell our house and a lot of my knitting stuff is packed away in storage and I haven't found it yet. But if I get time, I'll look for it some more and post the measurements for you.
ReplyDeleteI didn't ever knit a gauge swatch because it would take about as long to knit a swatch as it would to make a headband. But the great thing about these headbands is that the rib makes them super stretchy, so getting an exact size isn't terribly important. And babies grow so quickly that if it's a little bit big, it's okay, because it'll fit soon.
I am so in love with this pattern! I've been wanting to make it for the longest time, and now I finally have someone to make it for. I am half way through with the New Baby size and it is just too cute. As I was knitting I came up with the idea to make a matching headband for the baby's 3 y/o sister. Does anyone know if the 12+ month size is big enough or if I should add a few stitches?
ReplyDeleteAny insight would be appreciated.
Thank you!
I don't knit or crochet but I absolutely love this headband. My daughter is 6 weeks and I would love to have these for her. Do you sell any or know where I could buy some? I would really appreciate it!! They are too too cute. You do great work.

Hi Toni,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you for the kind compliment!
I don't have time in my life right now to knit items for sale, but I have given permission for a few people to sell headbands made from my pattern. This Etsy shop --> http://www.etsy.com/shop/nipcancergirls/sold
has sold them in the past. You can try contacting them to see if they would consider making more. Or you could take up knitting! It's a great hobby :)
awesome headband will definitely be making this
ReplyDeleteSuper j'aime beaucoup ce bandeau
ReplyDeletej'en ai tricoté aussi pour ma poupée

This headband is adorable! What are the finished measurements for this headband?
ReplyDeleteHi, can I have your permission to sell these headbands. I am in New Zealand
ReplyDeleteIs there a pattern for a knitted flower since I do not crochet
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for your wonderful story and the great knitting patterns, I belong to a group of Giving with Love Grannies and we love to make for special children, cheers Jillian
ReplyDeleteGosh, it is so adorable! Perhaps, wouldn't it be nice for teens also? I was thinking making one for my sister. Anyways, thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteOMG simply adorable! :) Great job! Jen @ www.sweetbabybowtique.com
ReplyDeleteRows 1-8: K3, P1 in main color
ReplyDeleteRow 9: K3, P1 in contrast color
wrong especially as its ribbing new knittings won't have a clue where they are going wrong....
for this ribbing pattern you need to alternate rows
so row 1 is K3, P1 in main color
row 2 is p3 , k1
continue this pattern for 6 additional rows (8 altogether).
final row 9 change colour Row 9: K3, P1 in contrast color
cast/bind off
I think the pattern is correct for knitting in the round. Your directions would be correct if using two needles.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say thank you for sharing this pattern so nice . I'm going to make this for my first grandchild.
